DescriptionWedding dress of white challis (now cream-colored) with white silk cross-barred design; fitted bodice, pointed in front; cape collar trimmed with satin piping; flaring neck edged with narrow white blonde lace; long sleeves full below the elbow with tight cuffs; narrow pleats above elbow held in place by bias bands; full skirt in loose pleats at waist except for gathers at center front waistline; bodice lined with white cotton cloth; a number of small moth holes; mended in Museum, May 1952; worn by Harriet Maria Spelman (d. 1843), married to Estes Howe, August 20, 1838.
