The series probably consisted originally of twelve sheets and may have had the names of the artist and publisher on the twelfth sheet, now missing. The designs are based on a series signed by Torii Kiyonobu I, RES.09.316.1 to .11. Kiyonobu's series includes the crest of a courtesan in the upper part of each picture, but in this version the crests have been replaced by small objects that are part of the actual scenes represented.
