Tied and dyed warp threads (of blue, brown and cream) cover brown binding-wefts in a cloth weave pieced at left. Brown stripe (.08 wide) at right. Twisted warp fringe (.1 wide) at bottom. Design: an elaborate interlaced Kufic inscription (.04 high) painted in gold with a black outline; complete, and finished at each end with a gold medallion. Above is small formal Kufic inscription (.02 high). Small formal Kufic inscription (.02 high) at lower left. In excellent condition; a few holes at top right. Inscriptions: (1) .04 high: "In the name of God, and the blessing of God be upon Muhammad (2) above: "Glory from God" (3) lower left: (undeciphered). Similar to 31.963.
