Probably the left sheet of a triptych showing present-day courtesans representing the wicked fox woman who caused trouble in India, China, and Japan; the woman in this sheet imitates her Japanese incarnation, Tamamo no mae. The related print in the British Museum may be the center sheet of the triptych, with a circular inset of a figure labeled Dakki, the name of the evil imperial concubine who was the fox spirit in China. The British Museum print has the censor's seal "Hare 9," i.e. the 9th month of 1807.
