Condition: Found in nine pieces, the statue was reassembled without any added restorations. Missing is a junction of the neck and shoulder, the middle portion of the curved blade of the strigil, and the lower right arm. A break runs across the upper right arm at the elbow. A vertical mark, possibly a plough mark, is visible on the back of the head. Light yellow patina. A bent upper right arm and elbow, and a bent right leg and knee are visible underneath the drapery, which wraps around the body in large folds.   Condition: Jagged breaks run along the sides. Covered in a green and brown patina. A horizontal line along the waist shows where two separate sections of the bronze fragment were joined together. Numerous rectangular repair patches are visible on the exterior surface as are several holes on the upper torso. The cascades of long curls that fall on his shoulder and the large wings affixed to his back are intricately carved and contrast with the polished smoothness of his face and lean torso. Toned body of a youth without well defined musculature. Remnants of a quiver visible hanging on the tree trunk behind the figure.  Condition: Breaks along the upper left arm, lower right arm along the wrist, both legs near the knees, genitalia, right wing, and lower half of the tree trunk support. Remains of struts are visible on the left thigh, left hip, possibly at the top of the right knee, and between the right wrist and hip. The right hand was made separately and joined with an iron dowel, which remains in the center of the wrist. Traces of a yellow patina. Iron stains along the right wrist. The wavy hair is parted in the center and encircled twice by a fillet (ribbon). Long, thin eyebrows frame heavy eyelids, long nose, and full lips. The eyes, now missing, would have been inserted into the hollow sockets; the lips were coated in another metal.  Condition: Irregular break along the base of the face. Crack along the chin, which was reattached. Two cracks along the left cheek. Large gashes on the top of the head and large dent along the right side of the forehead. Her wavy hair,  parted in the center and gathered in a bun in back, is bound by a broad fillet (ribbon). The hair below the fillet is carefully delineated and covers the top of her ears, but the hair above the fillet is roughly modeled. Her long oval face with small eyes and closed mouth ends in a prominent chin. Traces of a garment are visible along the edges of her bust and remnants of a cloak or himation are visible on the left shoulder and along the back. The head was worked separately for insertion into a draped statue.  Condition: Nose broken away. The sides and back of the bust are roughly tooled. The bun of hair at the back of the head has been refastened. Two drill holes at the back of the fillet suggest that its ends were added separately. Yellow patina. The wide set-eyes with drilled pupils and incised iris and tear ducts are framed by plastically engraved eyebrows. The hair is parted in the center with short locks brushed to both sides. Wisps of hair lightly incised on both cheeks and above the upper lip. Both sides of the head have been cut back to create a central ridge running most of the length of the head. This ridge most likely received a separately made coiffure or a helmet. Condition: Deep break at nose with smaller breaks along the left side of the mouth and upper lip. Large break at the left side of the base of the neck. Small gashes, pinpoint losses, and scratches visible throughout. Smooth marble surface of the face and neck contrasts with the rough surface of the top of the head along the ridge and bottom of the neck. Linear indentations along both sides of the central ridge. Small eyes are framed by heavy eyelids; the lips are full. The hair is worn in thick layers of deeply cut, short curls. The top of the skull is flat rather than round and the hair radiates in a starburst pattern at the back of the head.   Condition: Broken along the middle of the neck. The tip of the nose and the right side of the mouth are restored in marble. Iron stains on left side of the mouth and along the nose.Scientific Analysis:     Marble has been scientifically tested with X-Ray Diffraction and determined to be Dolomitic. A pronounced indentation of the curving spine accentuates the back of the figure.  Condition: The figure is preserved from the waist to the right knee and the left upper thigh. Clean break along the torso indicating the separation of the statue along the join. Jagged break runs along the right knee, and a cleaner break runs along the top of the left thigh suggesting the presence of another join in this area. Covered in a dark gray patina with brown accretions. Condition: Breaks along the bottom of the neck, right upper arm, left arm above the elbow, genitalia, and left knee and right thigh. Remnant of a strut visible on the back of the right thigh. Veins and inclusions in the marble. As a result of his stance, the left hip, left buttock and right shoulder are slightly lowered and the upper back curves gently to the right. The broad shoulders, which are thrown back, emphasis the long, convex chest and tapered waist. The slenderness of the body is especially apparent in a profile view.Condition: The torso, both legs at the knees, the upper arms, and parts of the genitalia are preserved. A break runs along the bottom of the neck above the clavicles. A piece of the back below the right shoulder blade is chipped away and smaller marks from a pick axe dot the surface of the marble. A break at the waist below the navel previously separated the two parts of the torso. Struts are visible on the left hip and back of the right thigh, and an indentation on the left arm was most likely a clamp to hold the arm in place. Short delineated locks frame his face, but rest of his hair is left unworked. Toned, trim body with a broad chest and slight muscular definition around the pectorals. Condition: The head, torso, portions of the upper legs, half of upper right arm, and most of the left arm is preserved. Tips of the nose and earlobes slightly chipped. Clean break across lower left arm and irregular breaks elsewhere with cracks running across the chest and left arm. Tooth chisel marks on parts of the surface. Blue veining on white marble that is partly covered in a light brown patina.
